6 Long-Weekend Getaway Ideas

Even if you’re not going anywhere for the long weekend, it’s still nice to dream.

You’ve got three (or four, if you’re lucky) days off. What are you going to do with yourself? We’d like to suggest hitting the road. Whether you’re seeking out the sun or keeping it local, these six destinations will help you make the most of your long weekend.

1. Lounge poolside in Vegas

The Canadian dollar is lousy right now, but you can still score some pretty sweet Vegas deals and get a little bang for your buck. And remember: people-watching is always free.

2. Soak up the sun (and architecture) in Palm Springs

There’s plenty of reasons Western Canadians flock to Palm Springs in droves—the gorgeous desert landscape, mid-century design—but the sunshine makes it the ideal place to visit when those winter blues are still lingering. And when you need a break from the heat, treat yourself to an afternoon at the spa.

4. Get back to nature in Squamish

It’s not hard to see why Squamish is having a moment. It’s filled with a whole lot of friendly faces and a never-ending to-do list of outdoor activities that take fitness buffs from the churning river to the mountain peaks; a rapidly developing local food scene doesn’t hurt, either.

5. Bike your way around Victoria

Victoria is Canada’s biking capital, so what better way to explore than on two wheels? Plan a route that includes stops at local breweries and coffee shops, and you’ll be well-fueled for a weekend of pedal-pushing.

Cabo-Esperanza6. Chill out in Cabo

Cabo has long had a reputation as a party town, but scattered among the beer-pong pavilions, there exist moments of serene beauty: empty beaches and vistas over the Sea of Cortez that you can have all to yourself if you just know where to look.
