Get the Look: Elegant Ivory Living Room

A traditional ivory and black space gets a modern update with subtle, on-trend details.

Kelly Deck living room

It’s a case in point for how a simple colour palette can be anything but boring. The owner of this Kelly Deck-designed Vancouver living room wanted a classic ivory and black space to fit her home’s traditional design. But Deck kept things current with modern patterns and materials: the custom chairs, for example, feature a wood-grain pattern on the seat, but the backs are solid black, preventing pattern-clash for anyone viewing the chairs from the adjoining dining space. The oval coffee table adds reflection and light with a mirrored base, a good match for the room’s nickel lamps. And the best part of a neutral palette? Accessories can change with the season—like the summery mauve throw, cushion and flowers in this feminine design.
