An Inside Job

An Okanagan home by Interior Designer of the Year Mitchell Freedland artfully
combines outdoors and indoors.

A Montana honey ledge stone wall carries the eye seamlessly from interior to exterior in this Okanagan residence. The client asked designer Mitchell Freedland to take his colour inspirations from the palette of the local scenery. "Public areas were designed for indoor/outdoor entertaining, while private areas were to be more insular and formal," says Freedland. A bathroom gets a luxe treatment of bookmatched marble floors (bottom right).

Caramel, gold and walnut shades from the ledge stone on the walls inspired furniture choices in the living room.
Much of the furniture was custom designed and made locally. The delicately coffered ceiling is a beautiful detail.

A seating composition in the master bedroom (above) balances the room. An entranceway creates a stunning view corridor (below).
