2009 Designers of the Year Awards

On September 10th 2009 Western Living Celebrated our Second
Annual Designers of the Year Awards!

The Millennium Water presentation centre was filled with a fashionable,
design-savvy crowd

A VERITABLE WHO’S WHO of the design world partied the night
away at the swank Millennium Water presentation centre on Thursday, September 10 as Western Living feted the 2009 recipients of the Designers of the Year Awards. The musical stylings of Girl On Wax DJs
set the tone for the evening as interior and furniture designers
mingled with architects and fashion designers over delicious hors d’oeuvres and sushi by Blue Water Cafe.

After presenting this year’s winners with their awards (see story here), editor-in-chief Charlene Rooke announced the creation of a new
award for 2010. The Arthur Erickson Memorial Award will be given for the first time next year, by Western Living in conjunction with the
Arthur Erickson Foundation for Excellence in Architecture. It will
honour an emerging architectural talent in Western Canada, in the
spirit of Arthur Erickson’s legacy of mentorship. Also in memory of the renowned architect, Western Living held an auction that raised over $3000 forthe foundation.

The event was a smashing success thanks to the many guests, judges, winners and sponsors who came out to celebrate the 2009 Designers
of the Year.
