-File It We all inevitably bring work to the kitchen, so why not be intentional about it? Keep regularly accessed files close with a custom-
designed cabinet. Secter also included a narrow drawer directly above the files, outfitted with a tray organizer to house rulers, knives, screwdrivers-each in its own slot.
-Hang Tough Think vertical for storage. After testing several colours on a computer rendition of the room, Secter opted for a back-painted black glass backsplash, capping it with a piece of stainless steel. The ridge is perfect for hanging shelves for small items-even herb gardens.
-Slide It Small appliances are often underused because they’re awkward to lug around the kitchen. A garage door-style cupboard, flush with the counter, means that the Mixmaster-on felt pads-easily slides in and out.
-Flat Front Something as simple as the size of the refrigerator makes a difference. Secter opted for counter-depth appliances; at 30 inches, this one’s 10 inches narrower than a standard fridge.
