1 Dulcet Tones Walls are white throughout the house, but for the bathroom, Ardiel used a mossy beige to warm things up-a reversal of the traditional white spa bathroom. "I wanted a bathroom where you’d want to spend some time," she explains.
2 Mirror, Mirror Husband and wife each have their own vanity, but her custom-built makeup table-topped with a glass tray of her favourite products and perfumes-is larger. A translucent Philippe Starck Louis Ghost chair maintains the room’s airy sense of freedom.
3 For Space’s Sake Every day’s a spa day when your every need is anticipated by the room’s design. Beneath a west-facing window, open cubbies were fashioned so rolled towels and pampering accoutrements are always at hand. Less attractive supplies live in a storage-rich floor-to-ceiling walnut cabinet (not shown).
4 Central Station Ardiel is a fan of symmetry; this six-foot soaker tub, encased in warm walnut, was placed at the room’s centre so everything else could balance around its weight. Alternating marble and glass mosaic tiles trim the tub’s deck.
5 His and Hers Two toilets, two sinks, two dressing rooms. But just one shower. Beneath a ten-inch rain showerhead, a 3-by-7-foot space is walled with Italian porcelain tiles (to match the bathroom floor) and broad sheets of glass (echoing the expansive windows in the house).
