"Many car guys install the lift into a full man cave," explains Bruce Buckborough of Babco in Surrey, B.C., "with flatscreen TVs and glass walls so you can watch the game and your car from one sofa."

"In addition to the racking costs," explains Rhae Redekop of Winnipeg's Genuwine Cellars, "items such as the finishing, marble counters, flooring, glass entrance and specialty LED's should be taken into consideration."

"The biggest challenge would be setting the ambient backdrop of the garden in a way that gives a helicopter pad enough clearance," explains landscape architect Paul Sangha. "And the ultra-green mini-putt can't be visible from the garden where it might affect its pastoral feel."

What you get: A custom design featuring exotic materials from South American Cherry to French marble, a team of carpenters armed with sandpaper, lacquer, glue, routers,, " and a few secret painting processes," says Greg Courage of Artistic Stairs in Calgary. It may take a painstaking seven months but the resulting mosaic design and cantilever illusion will have you floating.

What you get: Bamboo floors, low-VOC paint, hand-crafted meditation cushions, a yoga wall rope system, loads of natural light and a beautiful view. "In the world we live in, it's important that your yoga room be conducive to meditation, reflection and getting in touch with your breath," says Michel Laflamme of MAL Architecture, who not only designs yoga studios but practices in them, too.
