For just $3.25 per case per month, the innovative Vancouver Wine Vault, through
its locations in Vancouver and Calgary, will pick up, database, store and insure
your wine collection in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment—a
personalized storage solution without the price tag of a personal wine cellar
(winevault.ca).
$100 & Up
By the Case
Though regulations (on whether wine can be made at home or at a commercial facility)
vary by province, you can make 30 bottles of wine from a kit for about $100 and
up. U-Vin operators in B.C. such as My Wine Cellar in North Vancouver even age
some kit wines in oak barrels (mwc.ca). Take a step up at Il Vino in West Van
(ilvino.ca), where you can select grapes from all over the globe, or at North
Vancouver’s California Cult Classics (californiacultclassics.com), which
offers grapes grown in Napa’s legendary Beckstoffer vineyards.

By the Row
The Adopt-a-Row program at Red Rooster Winery in Penticton allows you to “rent”
50 vines for a year. You receive the equivalent amount of wine (12 bottles) annually—not
to mention the bragging rights from a sign in the vineyard designating your vines
plus special tasting sessions for “adoptive parents” (redroosterwinery.com).

A Platinum membership at Stoney Ridge Winery in Oregon (stoneyridge
.com) gets you 24 bottles of wine per year, custom wine labels, the exclusive
tastings and events you’d expect—and an empty oak barrel with your
personalized, engraved nameplate on it three years after you join. Now that’s
a souvenir.

Grand Cru Estates in Oregon’s Willamette Valley offered 30 founding members

be as involved with winemakers Tony Rynders and Laurent Montalieu as they like
in producing their own private pinot noir vintage—for a mere $20,000 a barrel
beyond the membership fee (grandcru
estates.com).
