Carey Jones, 31, is a busy fellow, finishing his masters degree in environmental design at U of C, forming a new design collective named Scribble and manning the always hip Kit.

5 things that inspire Carey Jones of Calgary’s Kit Interior Objects.

Muji Gel Pens. I became addicted to these pens while living overseas. I think I have one in every color.
(Prices start at 25 cents. Available online at muji.eu.)
My Eames Molded Plywood Lounge Chairs. The first pieces of modern furniture that drew me to pursue industrial design. Their combination of material innovation, aesthetic resolution and surprising comfort made them my first major investment from Kit.
(Available at Kit, $649 for model pictured.)
My collection of cookbooks. I love to eat, what can I say? Here’s a small cross-section.
My 1990 Volvo 240 DL Wagon. Even though it’s almost 20 years old, the design still speaks to me.
A collection of old figurines. I pick them up at garage and estate sales and then refinish in a uniform gloss white. I am intrigued by the idea of taking old, discarded objects and giving them new visual narratives. This guy looks even wiser in white.
